Norwalk man charged in Greenwich copper thefts

A Norwalk man was arraigned Tuesday on criminal charges after being accused of stealing copper downspouts and roofing panels from a school and a home in Greenwich. Andrew Woltmann, 31, of Ohio Avenue, Norwalk, was charged by Greenwich police Monday with third-, fourth- and fifth-degree larceny and was held in lieu of $5,500 bond.

Power Outages Reported In Greenwich As 2 Inches Of Rain Falls

A nor'easter pounded Fairfield County throughout Tuesday, bringing nearly 3 inches of rain to some areas, causing power outages and filling roadways with water. Here are rainfall totals reported by the National Weather service at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, even as heavy rain continued to fall: A wind gust of 47 mph was recorded in Bridgeport, with sustained winds of 32 mph in the Park City.

Heavy Rain Falls, Flood Watch Issued As Nor'easter Blows Into Greenwich

Rain could be heavy at times as a nor'easter blows into Fairfield County on Tuesday, causing a Flood Watch for the whole region and a Wind Advisory and Coastal Flood Warning for the shoreline, the National Weather Service said. With 1 to 2 inches of rain in the stormy forecast for Tuesday, the Flood Watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday for all of Fairfield County.

Greenwich Drivers: Stamford Dept. of Motor Vehicles Office Will Be Closed Wednesday

Area offices of the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles will be closed or have limited hours Wednesday, Dec. 10, in order to train staff for the new Drive Only License program, the department has announced. DMV's Norwalk Office, located at 540 Main Ave., will be closed from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. due to staff training.

Boys and Girls Club Greenwich To Hold Auditions for Spring Musical

The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich's Theatre Program will hold auditions for its mainstage musical, The Sound of Music on Thursday, Dec. 11 and Friday, Dec. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich at 4 Horseneck Ln. The Sound of Music is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, the story of the Trapp Family Singers. The show includes "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", "Do-Re-Mi", and the title song "The Sound of Music".

Michael Mead Schmitt, 59, Worked For Airgas In Greenwich

Schmitt was born March 9, 1955, in Stamford, to Michael Carl and Ann Mead Schmitt of Wilton. He was a vice president in banking in the 1980s, and worked in the specialty gas industry working for Airgas in Greenwich for the last 15-plus years.

The nanny for a Round Hill Road family is facing two-dozen charges after she opened up a credit card in the name of her employer, Greenwich police said. Her employer told police he had hired McClintock six months ago to help care for his and his wife's two sons and to help his wife around their house.
