05/21/09 Parents say Greenwich Swine Flu outbreak was handled all wrong by the BOE and the town Health Department

Western Middle School parents say that Superintendent Betty Sternberg should have taken the precaution of having the the entire 6th grade class and staff stay home to prevent the possibility of passing it on.

It would have been the common sense approach.

Reports that the WMS nurse was sending those kids back to class without taking temps or at least hearing their complaints was negligent and cruel. This should be investigated by the BOE.

If the WMS nurse didn't have enough room for all of them she should have sent the to the Principal's office. Open up the Gym and put down mats if Necessary.
This WMS Nurse may have helped spread the influenza by not treating these children properly and isolating them from the rest of the other students.

As is typical, the Board Of Education didn't use common sense which put Western Middle School parent's children in danger of contracting the Swine Flu.
