Water Company On Track To Finish A Week Early
Monday and Tuesday are planned for the installation of the 8-inch main, along with paving and concrete work. On Wednesday, a 6-inch pipe and new hydrant will be installed. Renovation work on the section of road where the work occurred will take place Thursday and Friday.
Work began Aug. 22 at the intersection of Glenville and Riversville roads following a pair of water main breaks earlier this summer.
The work was expected to be completed Sept. 30, but the company said last week it expected to finish a week ahead of schedule.
The July 28 and Aug. 6 water main breaks led to extended road closures and severe traffic congestion in the area. The most severe break occurred July 28, leading to a shutdown of the busy western Greenwich intersection for more than 24 hours.
Aquarion officials said they believe repair work from the first break led to a second rupture on Aug. 6, along Riversville Road near the intersection with Glenville Road.
