WHAT'S WITH THE BIG FAT DELAY ?????
Utility officials have repeatedly said the winds were initially too high to safely send out workers to restore power.
CL&P did not begin any work until 1 p.m., due to company and OSHA policies that do not allow workers on the job in winds above 35 miles per hour.
Greenwich officials argued that the winds had died down in Greenwich, but CL&P managers were looking at conditions all around the state
Greenwich tree and DPW crews were ready to go, but the CL&P crews could not get authorization to go to work in Greenwich.
More than 12,500 of CL&P’s Greenwich customers, or close to 50 percent of Greenwich is currently without power.
