Greenwich resident Melissa Trotter arrested for stealing
A Greenwich woman has been arrested for using a child as a decoy while robbing stores in Connecticut.
Police say 25-year-old Melissa Trotter used the 4-year-old boy to distract unsuspecting store employees on the Ave and central Greenwich in April and June.
She was charged with 22 counts of credit card theft, 10 counts of conspiracy and illegal use of a credit card, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit identity theft, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation and two counts of risk of injury to a child.
It is alleged that while the employees were distracted with the child, Trotter, who was arrested in June, would steal their purses and wallets.
She was also charged with similar offenses last month in Madison.
Authorities say the boy’s mother, is also being investigated.
