Subject: crosswalks
Why has nothing been done as far as enforcing pedestrian right of way in the crosswalks in Byram. I've had several near misses. Even police zoom by!
Comment:
Dear Frank,
You are 100% correct.
This is a very serious problem that has received some attention, but there is still much more that needs to be done.
As you may know, I was born blind in my right eye and it had too be removed when I was seven years old.
My left eye has limited vision and I have to be extremely cautious when walking in Byram and other parts of Greenwich.
While walking in Byram I too have had many near misses.
The sidewalks of Byram are loaded with children and elderly pedestrians.
Many families in Byram can not afford a car and must walk to local shops or into Port Chester to do their shopping.
Let's hope that Police Commissioner Peter Tesei and Police Chief David Ridberg will continue to frequently target motorists who put pedestrians in danger on the busy streets of Byram.
