PRESIDENT OBAMA’S DEPUTY PRESS SECRETARY TO SPEAK AT
GREENWICH HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
(For immediate release: Greenwich, CT – Tuesday, April 21, 2009) Jennifer Psaki, Greenwich High School graduate - Class of 1996, will speak at the Greenwich High School Graduation ceremony on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 5:00 PM.
Ms. Psaki is Deputy Press Secretary and Special Assistant to President Barack Obama, covering issues related to the economy, women, and faith.
As a Greenwich High School student, Ms. Psaki was a member of the National Honor Society; served as co-captain of the state championship swim team and was the sports editor of the high school newspaper, The Beak.
She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2000 with a degree in English and Sociology and has spent the last decade in the world of politics. She has held positions with the Iowa Democratic Party during the re-election campaigns of Governor Tom Vilsack and Senator Tom Harkin; she worked as Deputy Press Secretary on John Kerry's presidential campaign; and as Communications Director for the Office of Congressman Joe Crowley, Regional Press Secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Most recently she worked as the Traveling Press Secretary for the presidential campaign for, then Senator, Barack Obama. Over the last two years, Ms. Psaki traveled extensively with Senator Obama to campaign events and speeches across the country and overseas during his run for President of the United States. After the election, Ms. Pasaki was appointed Deputy Press Secretary and Special Assistant to President Obama.
