Signs on two Highway 101 overpasses honor Frankie Toner, 26, a former Westlake High School star running back and a Navy lieutenant who was killed by an insurgent Friday at a base in northern Afghanistan.
Above, the sign on the Lakeview Canyon Road overpass reads, “Salute Touchdown Toner.”
A sign on the Lindero Canyon Road overpass read, “RIP Frankie Toner 9-26-82 3-27-09.” Toner was scheduled to return home on leave today, his family said.....
