Greenwich Roundup Would Like Offer This Hope Or Prayer
For Our Citizen Journalists In The Comming Year.
Let us remember that our journalism cannot be meaningful if it has no meaning for life as it is lived in every corner of Greenwich society.
Let us remember that we must look inward if our reporting is to help others seek out and receive one another in town without regard to the differences of race or cultural backgrounds or lifestyles.
Let us remember to do our best to bring Greenwich light where there is darkness, truth where there is falsity, joy where there is sadness.
What we do as journalists is so vital, so needed, so important in keeping Greenwich from being overwhelmed by the mistakes of the past and the fears of the future that we must never forget to report about the town with wisdom and compassion and care.
It is with this in mind that I mention that as a boy, who was born and raised in the Ozark Mountains around Springfield Missouri, that when we used to part company, we seldom say goodbye.
We more than likely would say something like, "Y'all be good, now."
The truth is that my old hometown nieghbors did not really mean anything by, Y'all be good, now.
No one was seriously preaching goodness to thier friends.
After all, who likes to be told to be good?
So forgive me, but I would not be true to my roots if I didn't say it. Y'all be good, now.
In fact, may we all be good and do good in this great town of Greenwich.
And since I converted to Christianity about 150 days ago at Harvest Time Church, I will add,
Amen.
May The New Breed Of Citizen Journalist Of Greenwich
Be The First To Cover The Important Breaking News Stories In Town.
