It's been said that if the walls of our homes could talk they would tell the story of our lives. Consider trees the walls of our community. Oh, if trees could talk, the stories they would tell.
The oak may speak of the sweet young couple that had their first kiss in secret under its foliage, or the fun that neighborhood children had playing on a tire swing strung from one of its limbs. The pine, with its numerous low-lying branches, would recall those climbing adventures that left hands with a sweet-smelling stickiness. And the maple, planted when your child was born, grew to be a part of the family, with its own special place in the yard. Naturally, the trees would also fondly recall the generations of birds, raccoons, squirrels and other animals that have called them home.

New fines in town not considered garbage
People traveling through Greenwich to make the Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility their personal dumping grounds for their trash will be looking at higher fines and increased enforcement if the Department of Public Works and Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET) have their way.
