2014 was a banner year for IPOs

Secaucus-based FreshPet Inc. raised $156 million in its November initial public offering.* Initial public offerings continued their comeback in 2014, with nine companies in the state, four from North Jersey, becoming issuers It was a banner year for initial public offerings in 2014, led by the Chinese Internet sales giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., which raised a record $22 billion. According to Greenwich, Conn.-based IPO information provider Renaissance Capital, there were 273 U.S. IPOs last year that raised a total of $85 billion, up 55 percent from a year ago.
