Although I have a robust cell phone with internet, logging to Greenwich Roundup from the phone involves such lengthy loads that it hangs the phone browser.

Greenwich Roundup on Twitter solves the problem. Just go to Twitter.com/greenwichru and get all the latest.

The beauty of Twitter is its reliability through the cell phone networks (it works great in bad earthquakes - I learned this from Twitter.com/AndersonCooper).

Town of Greenwich could save a bundle by using this to communicate to the public, following the emergency lead of CT_DOT.

The 2nd beauty of Twitter is NO OVERHEAD to manage e-mail or distribution lists. The users do that for themselves.

Comment:
Dear Mike,
Using Twiiter to help get out town's updates would be an easy no cost solution that would help keep town residents informed during an emergency.
The town should fire their IT guy and hire you.
Two things might be causing Greenwich Roundup's web page to load slowly to your phone.
Greenwich Roundup got almost 3,000 visitors yesterday, because the Greenwich time and other town news media outlets have not been providing timely updates about the power outages in town.
Greenwich Time Cub Reporter Colin Gustafson filed this inaccurate report at 5 pm today.
Yesterday, Greenwich Time reporter Frank MacEachern reporter filed this misleading story at 11:09 am Friday
Maybe someone should tell Frank MacEachern that the The shelter at the Western Greenwich Civic Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday for the families who have been without power for 8 days.
Another thing that might be slowing down Greenwich Roundup's page load is the Twitter RSS Feeds that were recently put on the home page.
Today I will remove the "Raw Greenwich Twitter Feed" and see if that helps.
Thank you for the feed back
