10/11/09 $39.5 Million Equestrian Estate Takes The Reins In Greenwich

Billed as the “ultimate equestrian estate,” this $39.5 million complex in Greenwich, Conn., embodies the uppermost New England aesthetic. A maple-lined drive ends at fountain and courtyard in front of the massive Palladian-inspired mansion designed architect Robert Lamb Hart. Roughly 20,000 square-feet are spread throughout the 33-room Oilfield Farm, which sits on more than 18 acres of manicured, painstakingly maintained countryside. The home has an 11-bay garage, media room, steam room, and an expansive wine cellar and grotto, but the highlight of the property is its equestrian center. Two stables flank on-site groom’s quarters and stalls that have room for 39 horses. The center continues with paddocks, a polo practice field and adjoining horse track.
