In a passing of the torch for Greenwich Republicans, L. Scott Frantz announced his bid last night to replace longtime incumbent William Nickerson in the state Senate during a packed rally at the Arch Street teen center.

Man pleads guilty in jewel heists
A former Bridgeport man has pleaded guilty in federal court to being the gun-toting motorcyclist who stole nearly $5 million in jewels from Betteridge Jewelers in September 2006, according to the authorities.

New rail cars get the once-over
The M-8s sound like they belong to a class of secret agents, but they are, in fact, a fleet of new Metro-North trains that received their first showing yesterday.

The assessed value of vacant land in town decreased nearly 4 percent overall during the past year because of new construction, according to the assessor's office.
