“I wouldn't suspect her to want to have anything to do with someone like that”

STORY:

At St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside yesterday, Monsignor Alan Detscher counseled 100 mourners not to ask 'What if?' as they considered the violent death of a Greenwich woman last week and he asked them to pray for the Stamford man who confessed to killing her.

Juan Botello, 20, destroyed his own life when he allegedly stabbed Layla Banks, 21, on Oct. 13 after an overnight party in the Sheraton Hotel in Stamford, Detscher told her family and friends.

'Pray for him, for he is one of us too,' he said.
