Report: Greenwich fertility doctor accused of substituting own sperm to ...
Lower Hudson Journal news
GREENWICH, CONN. — A Greenwich fertility doctor was fined $10000 by the state for using the wrong man's sperm to impregnate a woman and was accused of substituting his own sperm in the procedure, the Greenwich Time reports today in a copyrighted article.

A woman, whom the newspaper did not identify, said she took a sample of her husband’s sperm to Dr. Ben D. Ramaley in 2002 in the hopes of becoming pregnant. The woman underwent artificial insemination and gave birth to twin girls but was baffled by the children’s fair complexion. The woman’s husband is black. A DNA test revealed that the husband was not the biological father.

The state never required Ramaley to submit to a DNA test, and he kept an unrestricted license following the state investigation.

The lawsuit was settled, and the case was sealed.

Aside from his ego problem, think of the child support! Local doc uses his own sperm to impregnate patients.

For nearly seven years, none of Dr. Ben D. Ramaley’s patients have known that the prominent obstetrician/gynecologist had been accused of an almost unimaginable act – substituting his own sperm for that of a patient’s husband during an artificial insemination procedure.

The allegation was made against the veteran Greenwich doctor in a 2005 medical malpractice lawsuit – which was quickly settled, then sealed, the very court documents shredded.

The suit was filed by a couple when a DNA test revealed that the husband was not the biological father of their twin girls, born after an insemination procedure performed by Ramaley. ...

11/12/09 MEDIA ALERT: Ned Lamont Invites Greenwich Residents To Connect With Lamont 2010

Since the 2006 campaign for Senate, I have continued to meet with citizens across our state -- as co-chairman of the Obama campaign in Connecticut, chair of a public policy committee at Central Connecticut State University, and as an outspoken advocate for health care reform. I have been constantly reminded during these conversations that Connecticut is not living up to its potential and that too many of our families are still being left behind.

Whether it has been health care and the economy, losing jobs, young people leaving the state, or the never-ending budget crisis, we have all seen our state head in the wrong direction.

Simply put, Connecticut's current Chief Executive is not getting the job done.

Over the next few weeks, I look forward to continuing these conversations with voters across the state. And I also look forward to hearing from you.
