3-Car Crash Snarls Traffic On Merritt In Greenwich

A three-car crash is backing up traffic on the southbound Merritt Parkway on Thursday afternoon, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said. The backup is for 2.4 miles from Exit 29 for Lake Avenue to Exit 27 for Route 120A/King Street.

Ryan Anthony, trumpet player extraordinaire , transported the audience for the Greenwich Symphony's first concert of the new year back to 1796, and urged them to forget they had ever heard the trumpet before- with astonishing effect. Introduced by Conductor David Gilbert, the soloist gave a brief history of his instrument, adding that prior to Haydn's "Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra", the horn had just been a curved tube with limited tonal range, then proceeded to blow his horn like Gabriel himself.

Greenwich priest suspended on child abuse allegations

Greenwich Time reports that Bishop Frank Caggiano informed diocese members on Wednesday of "credible evidence" that Stephen DeLuca committed one incident of child abuse more than 30 years ago. Caggiano placed DeLuca on administrative leave and said he may no longer live at St. Catherine of Siena Church .

Greenwich Dolphin Swimmers Shine In Maryland Meet

A small, but powerful group of Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team members traveled this past weekend to the 2015 USA Swimming IM Xtreme Games Invitational at the University of Maryland, College Park. The USA Swimming Inc.-sponsored meet included more than 75 teams with 1,300 of the Northeast region's best swimmers ages 9-14 competing over three days in a sequence of distance freestyle, stroke and Individual medley events, where they were awarded points based on time and awards in event placing.
