Court tosses Conn. woman's libel claim

A New York federal appeals court has tossed a Greenwich woman's claims that she was libeled by local media when they did not delete stories about her arrest after charges were dismissed. The ruling by the three-judge panel acknowledged the consequences of a criminal arrest are wide-ranging and long-lasting, even when someone is later exonerated or the charges are dismissed.

Greenwich Ballet Students -- Connecticut Ballet To Hold Auditions for Spring Production

Connecticut Ballet will hold open auditions for children's dance parts for its spring 2015 production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' on Sunday, Feb. 1. The auditions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Connecticut Ballet Center, 20 Acosta St. in Stamford. The company requires girls ages 9 to 15 with previous dance experience for children's character roles in the full-length production choreographed by Artistic Director Brett Raphael.

Greenwich Man Is Facing Fugitive From Justice Charge

A man who Greenwich Police came to help after he spun off West Putnam Avenue during the snowstorm Monday night is facing a fugitive from justice charge. Police came to the aid of the driver who spun off the road near 777 W. Putnam Avenue just before 8 p.m. Jan. 26 and when officers checked his driver's license, they found there was an extraditable warrant issued by police in Delaware, according to a police report.

Greenwich Home Prices Climb 11% In 2014

Greenwich real estate closed with a flurry of activity in 2014 and helped the market achieve an increase of over 11 percent in the median sale price for single-family homes. Theresa Hatton, executive vice president of the Greenwich Association of Realtors, reported 59 closings in December.
