Fire damages two apartments at Wilbur Peck

A Christmas-tree fire badly damaged two apartments at the Wilbur Peck Court housing development Monday, highlighting the dangers of leaving a lit tree unattended. Two families -- two parents and their two adult children, and a single mother and her 4-year-old and 9-year-old children -- were displaced by the Monday morning fire off Davis Avenue in central Greenwich.

Greenwich Police Investigate Home Invasion

Police said they are investigating a Monday night home invasion during which three men armed with crow bars tied up the home's residents and then stole thousands in cash and jewelry from the family safe. The incident occurred on Ridge Street in central Greenwich, police said.

With more than 90 percent of holiday travelers driving to their destinations, AAA of Southern New England is urging motorists in Fairfield County to be extra diligent about the dangers of impaired driving.
