09/15/11 Greenwich Congressman Jim Himes Announces Military Academy Nomination Application Deadline and 2011 Service Academy Day

Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) advised candidates seeking a congressional nomination for 2012 admission into one of the nation’s four military academies that applications are due to his office by 4:00pm on Friday, December 2nd. Applications are available on the Congressman’s website and from high school guidance counselors throughout the 4th District.

“One of my favorite duties as a Member of Congress is nominating the best and brightest young men and women of Connecticut’s 4th District to our nation’s service academies,” said Himes. “If you are a highly motivated, well-rounded, successful student, I invite you to consider the unique opportunity to develop physically, ethically, and intellectually while building a foundation for an exciting, challenging, and rewarding career as a military officer in the service of our nation.”

A panel of judges will review submitted applications and conduct interviews with candidates in mid-December. Candidates must be at least 17 years old, but not have passed their 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year of admission and live in the 4th Congressional district.

More information on the academy nomination process is available by calling the Congressman’s office at 866-453-0028 or by visiting the Academy Nominations page here.
