11/02/10 Thank You for All of Your Support

E-Updates from the Dan Debicella for Congress Campaign November 2nd, 2010
Debicella for Congress

Thank You for All of Your Support

Friends,

Tonight, the voters of Fairfield County have spoken. While the outcome was not what we hoped for, I’m proud of the campaign we ran.

Over fifteen months ago, we embarked on a journey to take our country in the right direction again. We ran a campaign of ideas, talking about improving the economy through helping small business, making permanent the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, and forcing politicians to cut spending and live within a budget. My hope is that these values of free enterprise, small government, and individual liberty will prevail in Washington.

More importantly, I want to thank you all for your unwavering support. We would not have come as close as we did without your friendship. From your generous financial contributions to the hours of volunteering, I will appreciate it all more than you can ever know. Your role in this process has been invaluable, and I will always remember your efforts.

Finally, please join me in congratulating Congressman Jim Himes on his victory tonight. We’ve enjoyed a spirited debate on the issues, and I wish him nothing but the best as he returns to Washington. The stakes for our country are too high not to hope for success in the next two years.

Thank you again for all you’ve done.

All my best,
--Dan

11/02/10 Former Greenwich Time Business Investigative Reporter Teri Buhl Arrested For Reporting On Underage Drinking In New Canaan.

UPDATE: Forbes.com Reporter Teri Buhl's comment on the matter:

I strongly refute the spurious and groundless allegations made against me, and I intend to vigorously defend myself. These politically motivated claims are nothing more than parents’ efforts to cover up an underage drinking problem in their own homes.

WHAT: The concert will be performed at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 E. Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, Conn. The entire performance will be recorded and filmed in high def. Tickets are $40 and are available online at www.courageandfaith.org or at The Music Source in Old Greenwich www.themusicsource.org (203-698-0444).

A pre-event talk entitled Words Before Music: Putting it Together, along with preferred seating for the concert are also available for $75 per person and features a discussion with Rob Mathes and Micheal O’Siadhail about At Night A Song is With Me. These tickets are also available online at www.courageandfaith.org or www.themusicsource.org.

The original performance of At Night A Song Is With Me premiered last spring to a sold-out audience. The response was so overwhelming that Rob Mathes agreed to perform the spectacular evening of music and song one more night in his hometown of Greenwich, Conn., before taking the performance to other cities. This will likely be the last local performance of this piece for a long time.

At Night A Song Is With Me is an original song cycle written and created by Mathes, who is a Grammy and Emmy nominated musician, and whose work with the annual Kennedy Center Honors was recently recognized with a 2010 Emmy for the Best Variety, Music, or Comedy Special. Rob Mathes’ impressive resume includes work with just about every major musician throughout the world. He is currently wrapping up an exciting year working with Sting, co-producing Sting’s Symphonicities CD and working as music director and orchestrator for Sting’s 2010/2011 World Tour with The Royal Philharmonic. He is currently producing the debut album by Matthew Morrison of the TV hit Glee, and produced the critically lauded Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook, the new CD by legendary Rhythm and Blues singer Bettye LaVette. At Night A Song Is With Me is a crowning achievement for Mathes and the impressive evening of music on November 6 features The New York Chamber Consort, an orchestra drawn from some of the finest musicians in Manhattan, including members of the New York Philharmonic; and singers, including the Christ Church Choirs, and the amazing Pop and RnB vocalists Laila Biali and Mike Harvey. Rob will also be singing and playing, along with Ben Wittman on Drums and David Finck on Bass.

WHEN: Saturday, November 6, 2010, 8:00 PM

WHERE: Christ Church Greenwich 254 E. Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT

WHY: At Night A Song Is With Me was commissioned by Conversations on Courage & Faith, a series of lectures, artistic performances and spiritual experiences that inspires and equips people to live Christianly in a postmodern world. Conversations on Courage and Faith is a Christian formation program of Christ Church Greenwich. Future events include Nigel Mumford on November 14, Dr. Anthony Campolo on January 9, The Rev’d Dr. Jeremy Begbie on March 12-13, Dr. Maya Angelou accompanied by Rob Mathes on April 2, and N.T. 11/02/10 Greenwich Resident Richard Blumenthal Talks About: "Your Vote Today"

Blumenthal for Connecticut
Vote. Find Your Polling Place.

Dear Friend,

Today is Election Day. And the only poll that matters is the one that comes out tonight, when polls close at 8pm.

Please visit our voting center to find your polling location, request a ride to the polls, and answer your questions about voting today.

Thank you for standing with me during this race. My opponent has used her $50 million attack machine to try and tear down my record -- but you know me.

You know that I have fought for you against the special interests. Working to fight big tobacco when they marketed to our children, protecting Long Island Sound, and fighting to keep jobs here in Connecticut - that is my track record.

If you send me to Washington, you can count on me to keep fighting for the people of Connecticut.

Your vote today is absolutely critical. Please visit our voting center to find your polling location.

Again, thank you for standing with me on the campaign trail. Whether it's using Facebook or Twitter to promote our campaign, making a gift to keep our ads on the air, or joining me on the campaign trail to share your stories - your contributions have meant so much to me.

I would be honored to have your vote today. Please visit our voting center.

Sincerely,

Dick Blumenthal

p.s. If you've already voted, you can still help the campaign today. Please visit one of our offices to help us turn out the vote.

Investigative Business Reporter Charged In Facebook Posting

A Former Greenwich Time Investigative Business Reporter has been arrested for allegedly publishing information about a Wall Street Big Shots 17-year-old daughter on the social networking site Facebook.

Teri A. Buhl, 38, of Locust Avenue, was charged last Thursday with second-degree harassment, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. Buhl turned herself in to police on a warrant.

The information, police said, stated that the girl attended a party where alcohol was illegally being consumed and also supposedly included inappropriate sexual comments.

The Facebook posting has been taken down, yet maybe made available if this journalist is cleared on first amendment grounds.

The 17 year old girl was a former New Canaan High School student has given the school a black eye, because of its failure to help stem the tide of underage student drinking.

Police obtained court orders to identify who was responsible for the posting and identified Buhl.

Buhl was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Nov. 9 at Norwalk Superior Court.
